家长会

这个星期是Kevin学校第一个term/第二个semester的最后一个星期。学校照例进行了Parent/teacher interview。

这里这样的家长会都是一对一的，时间需要预约。我们的定在了4点半。

预约单上预定这次会面只有10分钟时间。好在我们后面的预约比较晚，所以和老师一谈就谈了近一个小时。

总结一下重点：学习方面，英语要着重语法，表达要先考虑清楚再慢慢表达；数学要仔细看清题目。体育运动要加强，要学会体谅小朋友，最好参加象soccer这样的集体体育活动。至于我们担心的上课不认真的问题，老师反倒说这样的daydream的学生往往都是比较有想法的很bright的孩子。不是安慰我们吧！

转眼都year 3了，很多小孩这个时候都开始补习，为明年考精英班做准备了。但总觉得这样每周一次8个多小时的补习课对我们这个喜欢daydream的儿子可能不太适合。而这种应试型的补习又能在真正的学习习惯、学习能力上有多少真正的帮助呢。

我们计划不去过早参加这些应试型的补课，先开始适当补语法和写作，继续周末的Golf和Choir，针对Kevin的唱歌天分增加声乐课，数学仍按现在的家庭进度，另增加美术自教安排，天气转热的时候还要考虑游泳。天哪，已经排满了呢！

Mouse和Rat

一直以为mouse就是rat，就好比我们中文里说的老鼠和耗子。直到昨天下午收到LG的email告知，“灭虫公司已上门作了检查，推测在房顶捣乱的应该是rat而不是mouse......”，才发觉敢情两者还有不同。
于是急忙问一边的同事Denise。她说区别大着呢，rat大许多也丑陋地多（说到这还做出起鸡皮疙瘩状），危害当然也更大！还试图画给我看。我怎么听结论还是，都是老鼠，不过一个是小老鼠（mouse），一个是大老鼠（rat）而已。

本着精益求精的学习态度，又到Google作了搜索，得出如下定义：

Definitions of mouse on the Web:
any of numerous small rodents typically resembling diminutive rats having pointed snouts and small ears on elongated bodies with slender usually hairless tails.
A mouse is a mammal that belongs to one of numerous species of small rodents in the genus Mus and various related genera of the family Muridæ (Old World Mice).

Definitions of rat on the Web:
any of various long-tailed rodents similar to but larger than a mouse.

结论好像没变什么，都属啮齿类哺乳动物，rat>mouse。不过新的收获是知道了十二属相里的那个是rat而不是mouse！
